A common issue that new clients inquire about is how long is it before the results are back, and exactly what should we expect in terms of the deliverables?
In general, results are returned about 10 days after the conclusion of the assessment itself. This allows for the assessments to be scored and for the reports to be generated.
With regard to the deliverables, each participant (student) receives a 9-page printout of their assessment performance. The student report provides a comparison of the student’s performance against their self-assessment, a breakdown of their performance by activity (i.e., each meeting, their presentation, and their email responses), and a detailed list of their behaviors exhibited during the assessment. The skill dimensions include leadership initiative, decision-making, planning and organizing, communication, and teamwork. The report also includes feedback on a series of ethical measures as well as the frequency that the student emerged as filling a leadership role during the group meetings.
Deliverables for the school or program include a summary report that mirrors the individual student reports as well as a spreadsheet including all of the individual results. Some programs use the summary report for their assurance of learning reports directly, while other programs prefer to customize their AoL reports using data pulled from the spreadsheet. The benefit of the spreadsheet is that it allows the client to parse the data in any way that they see fit (e.g., grouping students by major, by gender, by previous coursework taken, or by any other characteristic that fits with the schools goals).
By providing timely data in a detailed format, we seek to make client feedback as actionable as possible so that the data can be fed forward to more effectively “close the loop”. Using this data to address curriculum changes, or to form the basis for other interventions like skill workshops or for student advising can help to maximize its effectiveness.
